Number Nine

 

This poor clock had been in a fire.  The movement would no longer run and case was beyond repair.



After a thorough cleaning and some adjustments the mechanism worked again.  It was possible to salvage parts of the case and that gave the opportunity to re-imagine the clock with a nod to its past and a more modern aesthetic.

The original dial had been damaged , so the painted face and numerals were removed exposing a rich dark grey tin face with brass ring accents.  The hands were replaced with more modern brass hands and the pendulum replaced with one that reflected the other circular elements of the design.




















The fire had caused the finish on the case to crackle and this was left intact as an interesting component of the design.


The dial sets the aesthetic for the rest of the clock, from the hands to the round pendulum and the round gong.   The concentric brass circles of the dial are accented by small brass time markers at the quarter hour positions.
