Number One
It all started when I picked a clock from the garbage that someone had tried to refinish. In their attempt at improvement they managed to destroy the case. I stored the clock away thinking I might make a new case some day.
After seeing some Arts and Crafts-styled clocks from a superb maker in California I was inspired to pick up the project and explore that style. The result was my Number One.

The case is made of quarter-cut White Oak with traditional finishes from bygone eras. I hand-hammered the dial from copper. The movement runs for 31 days between windings, though I tend to wind it weekly. It chimes on the hour and half-hour. Details of the clock echo some of the furnishings in our dining room where the clock resides.
Making this clock re-awakened my love of mechanical clocks. And the process of creating Number One was so fulfilling that I decided to make more. To date there are nine completed clocks and two more in the works. Something tells me it won't stop there.
